Systematic Kinesiology in Derry: What to Expect

Want time to talk about the whole picture? A systematic kinesiology appointment at The Restore Clinic in Derry gives you one-to-one time with Jolene to discuss your wellbeing, routines and goals. Here is what the complementary session involves.

What is muscle-response testing?

During a test, the practitioner positions part of the body—often an arm—and applies gentle pressure while the client holds the position. The response is considered alongside other information gathered during the appointment.

Supporters use this process to guide a broader wellbeing discussion. However, muscle-response testing should not be described as a medically validated way to diagnose disease, allergies or intolerances.

What happens during a session?

We’ll ask about what you would like help with, your health history and relevant lifestyle factors. Gentle muscle-response tests may then be used as part of the systematic kinesiology process.

Any suggestions should remain within complementary wellbeing and the practitioner’s scope. You should never be advised to stop prescribed medication, ignore medical advice or delay necessary tests.

What about sensitivity testing?

The Restore Clinic offers sensitivity testing within the clinic’s scope of practice. It is important to distinguish this from a medically diagnosed food allergy.

A true food allergy can cause serious or life-threatening reactions and should be assessed by an appropriately qualified healthcare professional. Do not use complementary testing to reintroduce a food that has previously caused breathing difficulty, swelling, collapse or another severe reaction.

When should you see a doctor?

Contact a GP or other appropriate healthcare professional for persistent or worsening symptoms, unexplained weight loss, bleeding, severe pain, neurological symptoms, suspected allergy, difficulty breathing, or anything that may require diagnosis or urgent treatment.

Complementary care is most responsible when it works alongside—not instead of—appropriate medical care.
